Scratcha DVA is a highly respected DJ and producer and one of Hyperdub’s Key players, hosting the monthly Hyperdub show, his trusted tastes given free reign once a month across the airwaves.
Throughout his career he’s been immune to easy genre definitions , as a producer who has cut a joyful path through dance music, joining the dots between trends and styles into his colourful productions. Take his debut, last year’s respected ‘Pretty Ugly’ album on Hyperdub which featured Muhsinah, Vikter Duplaix, Zaki Ibrahim and others , sealing the prospect that he’s a UK equivalent to someone like Flying Lotus, or the dancefloor ready ‘Fly Juice EP’, which showed off his ability to make standout house Hybrids that sound like no one else, but were played widely by DJ’s.
His choices of collaborators are always interesting too, from regular and ongoing work with Inga Copeland from Hype Williams, who he has toured with, through to Portico Quartet as well as recently touring with UK house breakout star Julio Bashmore. Scratcha DVA’s in demand sets have seen him play second to last on the main stage at Sonar in 2012, touring South Africa, Japan and China as well as regularly all across Europe.
